Who can apply to present?
We welcome proposals from:
Deaf Interpreters (DI)
DeafBlind Interpreters
Emerging DIs
BIPOC Deaf leaders
International Sign users
Educators, researchers, and community specialists
DIC5 strongly encourages proposals from BIPOC, DeafBlind, LGBTQIA+, and global presenters.
Can I apply to present first, then register?
All interested applicants can apply first before registering for the conference. If you plan to attend the full conference, we encourage you to register now to secure your spot.
What are the requirements to apply?
Presenter applicants must submit the following:
Completed online registration form
Completed online presenter application form
1-minute introduction video in sign language (YouTube link, set as unlisted)
Workshop title and description
Learning objectives (3–4)
Presenter bio
Access considerations (e.g., DeafBlind inclusion, language needs)
Are presenters being compensated?
Presenter coverage may include:
Travel support (airfare or mileage)
Lodging at CSUN Housing (4-Nights)
CEU processing support
Presentation Fees
Final compensation details will be confirmed after presenter selection.
Will presenters receive RID CEUs?
Yes. Sessions are reviewed for RID CEU eligibility. Presenters may be asked to provide:
Learning objectives
Agenda/outline
References/resources
Bio and credential details
Presenters can earn CEUs for presenting their workshop only on their FIRST time they present that specific topic. It is important to include your RID member number in the application.I thin
What are the conference themes?
The Deaf Interpreter Conference 5 (DIC5) invites presentations connected to the following themes:
Reunite – Rebuilding our relationships, networks, and collective purpose.
Revitalize – Renewing our practice, knowledge, and community well-being.
Rise – Uplifting Deaf Interpreter leadership, visibility, and innovation.
Suggested topic areas include:
Ethics, Community & Identity, Language & Culture, Policy & Advocacy, Global Collaboration, Technology & Future, DeafBlind Access, Mentorship, Interpreter Education, and Self Care
What language(s) will be used during the conference?
DIC5 is a Deaf-led, sign-language-centered environment.
Primary languages include:
American Sign Language (ASL)
International Sign (IS)
Additional sign languages (LSQ, LSM, etc.) may be incorporated based on accepted presenters.
No voice interpretation will be provided.
