Interpreting with Clarity: The Power of Visual Mapping

.15 CEU

This workshop explores how visual mapping can strengthen clarity and cohesion in interpretation, particularly when interpreters encounter complex or disorganized source messages. Participants will examine the concepts of coherence and cohesion and learn how these discourse features influence meaning-making in interpreted interactions. Through guided video analysis, visual mapping demonstrations, and collaborative discussion, interpreters will practice organizing ideas visually to better track relationships between concepts and maintain message flow. The session emphasizes practical strategies that support interpreters in producing more connected and accurate interpretations across settings. By integrating reflective activities and applied practice, participants will develop tools to analyze discourse structure and enhance their ability to convey meaning effectively from sign to voice. This training equips interpreters with a practical framework for managing complex information and improving overall interpretation clarity.
