Livestream Interpreting: Standards, Strategy, and Screen Presence

Digital platforms are now one of the primary access points for Deaf communities, yet livestream interpreting is often inconsistent. This is an opportunity to discuss shared professional standards. Currently, Deaf Interpreters are navigating camera framing, feed management, remote teaming, and visual cohesion without a consistent framework guiding the final on-screen product.

This session invites Deaf Interpreters into a focused discussion on screen presence, broadcast protocols, and Deaf–hearing team coordination in livestream environments. Presenters will address Zoom-based teaming strategies, feed and monitoring procedures, visual composition, and key differences between remote and on-site broadcast work. Insights from broadcast contexts, including contributions from DPAN-TV guest Sean Forbes, will inform the discussion.
Rather than prescribing rigid rules, this workshop fosters collaborative dialogue toward shared expectations and stronger, more consistent accessibility in digital interpreting spaces.
